Finals. The worst week of the school year always coincides with the best time of the year, Christmas. It’s hard to memorize Newton’s Law and the pythagorean theorem when all you wanna do is memorize the funny quotes from Home Alone 1, 2 and 3. But don’t be Mr. Scrooge about not celebrating. It isn’t tough to heal your winter blues. Here’s how to add some Christmas calm to your finals fiasco.

1). Play Christmas music. All the time. On the bus, at the library, at the gym. Somehow the mix of the jingle of snow bells and piano always manages to contrast the bright sunshine and humidity. The holiday station at Pandora will be your new favorite.

2). Drink cocoa. Okay, it might be 75 degrees out but a cup of hot chocolate (with a shot of espresso for an energy boost) will really make it feel like winter.

3). Hang some lights. Or be like me and leave ’em up all year. Something about the twinkling glow in my room makes me think it’s cold outside.

Give yourself a study break and try out the holiday celebrations being held around Gainesville. The Bo Diddley center (in downtown) will have an ice rink this year. No word on when it’ll open due to unexpected delays. But Tioga Town Center has snow on Fridays and Saturdays! So go out and relieve some stress by throwing some snow balls at your loved ones.
